If 76% of employees consider this annual meeting with their manager useful, (Epsy survey/Mutual Well-Being and the Company), there is also a large number criticizing the method as being too quantitative, not qualitative enough, and also causing tensions between employers and employees. The review is often perceived as the chance to sweeten the pot – or, in other words, increase a bonus. To optimize rather than suffer through this performance review, two management professionals Hervé Aulner and Pascaline Mallasingne give some advice.
