Local Talent: Get your scoop on The Sam Willows
updated the Monday, May 16, 2016If you’ve never actively listened to The Sam Willows, now’s the time to start.
One of the most popular Singapore bands to date, The Sam Willows has completely banished the stereotype that Singapore has no talent. Formed in December 2011, the group consists of Benjamin Kheng, Jonathan Chua, Narelle Kheng and Sandra Riley Tang, who all sing and play at least one instrument. Perhaps influenced by the band members’ strikingly good looks, the worldwide fame of this pop band is one of the fastest-growing among Singaporean artistes, and steadily rising as we speak.
The success of this band is not surprising, and you would probably agree if you’ve listened to their covers and originals. The genre of their songs range from the indie vibes present in Crown (the first track in their debut EP), to simple pop songs like All Time High, and even to dance pop that borders on EDM as heard in Glasshouse (Lillywhite Edition). The Sam Willows is scheduled to do a regional tour this year, which is great news for South East Asian fans. The first concert will be held at The Coliseum, Hard Rock Hotel at Resorts World Sentosa on 22 July.
You can listen to all their songs on their YouTube channel and Spotify. With excellent vocals, amazing melodies, and extremely catchy tunes, what more could you ask for?
