Having only started his acting career at age 41, the petty professor surprised us by nailing one of the greatest career milestones in history - where thousands would kill for the role.

Hated-professor-turned-secret-hero
Not many could have pulled off the character like Alan Rickman did. The professor had the charm to make us complete converts as his loyal fans.

He is a faithful lover
We’ve seen the vicious side of Snape when he ruthlessly killed Dumbledore in front of the death eaters; but more than anything else, he loved Lily Evans (Harry’s mother), with all of his heart. Despite hating James Potter, he protected Harry till the end. That’s true love for you.

He taught us self control
Emotions, expressions, behaviours - we all need some self control. Snape was probably the best guru in teaching us how to keep Voldemort or other related demons out of our dreams.

He is a man of his word
He kept his promise to Dumbledore - to protect Harry Potter by deceiving all that he was on the Dark Lord’s side.

He is unmistakably a trendsetter
Not only does Professor Snape look good and unexpectedly dashing with his billowing robe, the jet-black, greasy mid-shoulder length hair has also stolen fashionable hearts.

He doesn’t care what others think
Except probably Lily Evans, of course. From expressing extreme loathing to shedding tears for the one he loves, he just doesn’t give a hoot about what they think. Neither should we.

Truth isn’t always the nicest thing to hear, but he knows that’s what we needed to hear.

He is full of surprises
No one likes a boring character, and Snape knows best. You would never know what he will do if he catches you dozing off in Potions class - yelling is just one of his favourites.

The villain in us is best portrayed with Severus Snape’s sinister charisma and subtle loving air – what’s not to love about this man?

Yes yes, Gryffindor in Harry Potter has successfully made mere mortals, or shall we say, muggles, like us feel attracted to the morals of the house – bravery, sacrifice, courage.

Nonetheless, the malicious professor has unmistakably won the hearts of many Slytherin and Harry Potter fans all over the world too. For that, we are eternally thankful for Rickman’s beautiful depiction of the conniving professor.
