Unilever Brazil’s latest eco-conscious action definitely encourages consumers to reduce carbon footprints by using their recycling machine that comes with a bonus.

In collaboration with the JWT Brazil advertising agency, Seda, a hair care brand under Unilever, has installed a recycling station for empty shampoo bottles of any brand at a subway station in Brazil. And there’s a benefit – you get to receive cell phone credits in exchange for your good deed.

So, during the month of October, simply dispose of your empty shampoo bottles at the Sao Paulo subway station and walk away with your mobile topped up. The more empty bottles users bring, the more free credits they will get.

In doing so, the brand wants not only to raise awareness about the importance of recycling for nature preservation, but also to promote its new Seda hair care line which uses natural ingredients such as green tea, citrus extracts, ginseng and mulberry roots.

This is the perfect way to boost the brand image of a product by encouraging eco-friendly behaviour. Time to gather all your bottles and make a trip to the subway station and you’ll definitely need those credits to pass on the recycling message.
