The 35th Comic-Con might have come to an end but comic book and pop culture fans were treated to surprises, scares and memorable experiences in the four-day event. Here are a few highlights of what went down in San Diego.

Comic-Con events are aplenty worldwide but the San Diego convention is the one that gets everyone excited, and for good reasons too. It’s big, it’s well-known and it’s the one where exhibitors from far and wide go when they want to drop big industry news. And this year’s four-day exhibition stayed true to form.

Gamers, comic enthusiasts and superhero fans were not short of exciting announcements and surprises at the event. Aside from premiering the most-awaited video game, Call of Duty: Black Ops III, COD fans were also treated to a prequel comic release for Call of Duty: Black Ops III. It was also the first time Treyarch attended the event, distributing freebies and surprises to the delight of those in attendance.

Naturally, as is the case every year, superhero movies like Batman v Superman and The Avengers franchise made the biggest splash at the convention with costumes from the new Batman v Superman movie even making an appearance.

Fans of The Hunger Games trilogy were treated to the full trailer for the final instalment of popular series which premiers this year on November 19, with the playful banter between the movie’s three leads being the real draw of the event.

Whether or not you’re a fan of comics, anime, video games or superheroes, it’s hard to argue against the appeal of Comic-Con which provides a welcome distraction from the mundane with its fascinating peek into a wonderful world of escape and fantasy.
