Evil Heroines: The excessively dramatic who awakens our savage side

Then there are the villains who revel in the excess. We would not even do half of the things they do…but we like to watch them do it anyway.

Less is more…well, not really in the case of the villain, who always does more. In My Super Ex-Girlfriend, Uma Thurman uses her super powers in nuclear attack mode to wreak havoc in the apartment of her boyfriend after she is dumped like an old sock.

The #1 enemy of the 101 Dalmatians, Cruella De Vil, smokes like a firefighter and wears so much fur she would give any SPCA member a coronary. In short, she is the one who takes action when we hardly dare to fantasise, and this gives us a good catharsis for the price of a movie ticket.

«She plays the part of civilization just waiting to be broken by the savagery in us,” Didier Roth-Bettoni analysis. After all, is not that the essential instinct of the wicked: like us… but 1000 times worse?
