Ever wondered what it would be like to have your favourite activity realised into an actual game? Gather your friends as it’s time to guess the selfie.

It is no secret that selfies have invaded our world – taken everywhere by everyone, including celebrities and brands. Awarded “Word of the Year” by the Oxford English Dictionary in 2013, there is even a song about them. So what if the art of taking photos of yourself had its own game?

USAopoly did exactly just that and developed a game based off your favourite activity. All selfie lovers rejoice! Aptly named Selfie, the game of silly expressions elevates selfie-taking to the next level.

For kids and adults aged 13 and up, the game comes with more than 360 selfie caption cards, a phone-like cardboard frame – in case you don’t have a phone – and a guide to the game’s rules. To start the game, each player draws seven cards. The most recent selfie-taker gets to be the first judge. The judge chooses one of their cards and has to snap a selfie with a smartphone or pose in the phone-like cardboard frame, making the expression that best describes their card. He/she then has to display their selfie to other players who’ll have a go at guessing what it depicts. The best guess is awarded a point and the winner is the first player to accumulate five points.

The cards contain captions, such as, “you have a serious case of duck face” or “you are trying to do long division in your head” or “you are smiling when you really don’t want to”.

So if you’re looking to enjoy some hilarious family-bonding time or bouts of silliness with friends, this is the perfect – it’s quite like pictionary meets selfies. Otherwise, gift this to someone who’s selfie-crazy and you’ll definitely make their Christmas that much more joyous.

The Selfie game (approx. SGD26) is available online here.
