Staff Picks: Marie France Asia's favourite pastimes
mis à jour le 14 July 2015 à 18:32From reading to window shopping and working out, here's what the team loves to do in their spare time, away from work.
On those days that we're not busy furiously typing away at our keyboards, we particularly enjoy indulging in our pastimes. From reading to running, shopping and spending time with family, these are just some of Marie France Asia's favourite things to do in our spare time.
Rana - Editor-in-Chief
"If you're expecting me to say that the ideal way I like spending my time is practising Pilates or Spinning - then you've got the wrong editor in mind. In fact, the only exercise I do is when... shopping! A bit cliché I know but it's a good way for me to lose track of time and work out my leg muscles whilst also enjoying myself. However, my favourite pastime of all has to be watching movies. Whether sitting on my couch with a glass of wine or going to the cinema (I do that at last once a week), movies give me the chance to unwind and escape my hectic work schedule. While during the week I have a lot of events to attend and socialising to do - I make sure to take some solo time-out whenever possible to catch a great art-house film, get inspired and indulge in my love for movies (which don't include 50 Shades of Grey)."
Tarandip - Fashion & Beauty Writer
"What allows me to escape from everything else is a good book - one that brings me through another person's journey so I don't have to deal with my own for a bit. If I had the time, I'd be reading novels after novels after novels, all day long."
Shannon - Editorial Assistant & Writer
"Outside of work and school, the one thing I like to do more than anything else is visit new places with my trusty Canon DSLR. From the backstreets of Chinatown to the hustle and bustle of Orchard Road, I could take pictures all day. If I'm not doing that, you'll most likely catch me spending time at museums and art galleries with my boyfriend."
Annabelle - Fashion & Beauty Writer
"Just sitting, staring, and taking a backseat with a good cup of iced vanilla latte in hand as life continues with its daily bustle - that's definitely my favourite way to while time away. I must say, to not be a participant once in a while but to sit on the sidelines and watch life become a movie in itself, observing people’s dressing, walking, and body language, while simultaneously crafting possible stories about their background is actually rather cathartic."
Natasha - Editorial Intern
"I try to run whenever I have the time. It helps clear my mind for a little bit and after the adrenaline rush, I get to continue my day much more positively."
Lindsay - Fashion Tech & Lifestyle Writer/ Translator
"Spending time with family is my favourite thing to do. I love when we are all together for dinner around good food cooked by my grandma, joking around and talking about old stories. It is so energizing!"
Laura - Business Development Manager
"I love window shopping! I actually have a bucket list folder saved on my phone. I'll take picture of the items I really want with their price and purchase them when finances permit! It's mostly home décor stuff though but I get overly excited when I pass by favourite shops."
Aline - Audience Product Manager

"I cannot spend a week without doing any sports. It’s clearly more than a pastime for me. It's good for health and good for stress relief. Basically, my favourite sports are surfing and skiing but it’s not easy to practice them everywhere. So my new challenge for 2015 is to try one new sport every week. And, this week it was Swedish gym - perfect for stretching."
