Be it on television or in the movies, evil is abundant…which is perfect for us, because we love to hate them. Here are our top 5 most delightfully evil female characters.

1. THE QUEEN IN SNOW WHITE

The original villain. Over nearly eighty years, she can still boast about being the catalyst for a good number of children’s nightmares. Unsurprisingly, the apple producers have never put her in the spotlight of their campaigns.

2. NELLIE OLESON IN LITTLE HOUSE ON THE PRAIRIE

Without her, the tribulations of the Ingalls family would be as exciting as watching a snail crawl. But with her falsetto and pesky character, you can immediately smell the family drama!

3. PEYTON FLANDERS IN THE HAND THAT ROCKS THE CRADLE

Under her cover as a nice, gentle WASP (white Anglo-Saxon Protestant), this nanny from hell (played by Rebecca de Mornay) thoroughly ravaged the life of an ordinary family. Her claim to fame: deterring crowds of spectators from hiring a babysitter.

4.THE MOTHER IN PSYCHO

She never appears, until the end… and as a decomposed corpse. This undisputed empress of abusive mothers won her own TV series Bates Motel in 2013. The damage is finally repaired, so to speak.

5. MIRANDA PRIESTLY IN THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA

Icy, manipulative, perverse narcissist, stalker…and all with a voice that never exceeds 50 decibels. Meryl Streep portrays the director of a fashion magazine – Anna Wintour if we may – the walking nightmare of any self-respecting worker who respects herself.
