Game of Thrones spin-off series in the works, HBO confirms

GoT fans, prepare yourselves for some mind-blowing news.

While Game of Thrones has just two seasons left on the cards – of which the penultimate (7th) season will be taking to our TV screens in just a couple of months – HBO is already making a serious effort to explore multiple possible spin-offs to ensure that the explosive drama of Westeros lives on, at least for a little while longer.

In fact, according to Variety, HBO has already confirmed that it has closed deals with four different writers to explore further spin-off projects, though no timeline has been disclosed for these potential additional shows just yet. These major writers are Max Borenstein (Kong: Skull Island), Jane Goldman (Kingsman: The Golden Circle), Brian Helgeland (Legend), and Carly Wray (Mad Men, The Leftovers).

“We’ll take as much or as little time as the writers need and, as with all our development, we will evaluate what we have when the scripts are in,” a spokesperson said, according to Variety.

Judging by the talent they’ve managed to snap up, fans can probably rest assured that their favourite television series will be in good hands.

Season 7 of Game of Thrones is set to premiere on 16 July, and conclude its seven-episode run on 27 August.
