Trailer: Watch Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara fall in love in ‘Carol’

At a time where homosexuality is frowned upon, take a look at how Todd Haynes’ upcoming movie, Carol broaches the topic.

As one of the movies that received immense applaud after its premiere at Cannes Film Festival earlier this year, Carol is definitely living up to the buzz. The romantic film, directed by Todd Haynes tells the charming story between two female lovers in the 1950s – a young department store clerk, played by Rooney Mara and an older married socialite, played by Cate Blanchett.

While the trailer itself doesn’t come with much dialogue, what is entirely beautiful is the blossoming romance that reveals itself between the two individuals. The intriguing storyline was essentially adapted from Patricia Highsmith’s semi-autobiographical novel, The Price of Salt, by Phyllis Nagy and worthy to note is that the entire film took 11 years of development to come to fruition.

So if you’re itching to get a glimpse of the melancholic tale and how the two stars traipse around the often resented topic of homosexuality, then the trailer should do enough to satiate your curiousity – at least in terms of mood.
