From James Franco’s selfie overdose, #aftersex selfies to the the unfortunate train and hospital selfies – check out those which made it to our worst list.

The selfie, what is it?
It’s like the 21st century version of the self-portrait. We quickly take a photo with our smartphone – with our friend(s) or alone – then we share the shot on social networks. A hashtag (#) is then used to specify the spirit of the picture, especially on a network like Instagram. The hashtag sets the tone, and the subject of the photo.

Why we talk about it so much?
For everyone – even the Clintons and their children – loves it! But also because more and more applications are emerging to allow addicts to share their selfie self-portraits even easier. So much so that the App Store has created a special page where we find all the applications to delight compulsive photographers such as Snapchat, Shots, Flash Front…

Does this trend raise controversy?
Yes. This trend has been stirring criticism from many psychologists and sociologists who warn about the risks of extreme use  of the selfie. The latest example: The young British boy who tried last week to end his life because he could not take the perfect selfie. It looks like the the reign of appearances can really be fatal. At the same time, there has been an increase in consultation for  plastic surgery in the United States. Their patients would were reportedly overwhelmed. Why? Their selfies do not look as good as those of their favorite stars
