Singapore’s first China Equine Cultural Festival proved to be a galloping success and we were there to snap some ladies in their Sunday best.

You know you’re in for a spectacular event when the who’s who of high society and leaders of international business and thoroughbred racing are in attendance. Add to that performances by Singapore’s ‘national treasure’ Kit Chan and electro violinist trio San Nikki’s and you’ve got a winning recipe. The inaugural two day China Equine Cultural Festival event, which took place on Sunday February 22, did not disappoint.

Guests at the Singapore Turf Club dressed to the nines for the occasion and were treated to a day of elite thoroughbred racing culminating in the feature CECF Singapore Cup and the support event, the SGD200,000 CECF Singapore Prestige Classic.

Kiwi Karma saluted in the 1400m CECF Singapore Prestige Classic but the real stars of the show were international performed thoroughbreds and star international jockeys and trainers in the Cup itself. The spotlight was on former American based mare,Parranda, who dashed clear under a polished ride from the globe-trotting Christophe Soumillon to win the SGD3,050,000 CECF Singapore Cup, the richest race the country has held in 173 years.

But enough of the horses already. Everyone knows the real purpose of these equestrian events is for the guests to see and be seen, all while dressed in their Sunday best. Hot weather be damned, no true fashionista was going to turn down the opportunity to strut their stuff on the race stands. The ladies had their fascinators out in full force and we managed to capture the best of them!
