If you have a ear for good music and some time to spare, head on down to support SGH patients at the MusicFest@SGH concert this Friday.

Let’s be honest, we’ve all dragged our friends down to the Botanic Gardens for their free classical music concerts at some time or another. However if you like your concerts a little more spiced up and local – or just wish to stay away from the midday heat – then Singapore General Hospital’s upcoming MusicFest@SGH Concert will be your best bet.

Featuring 250 artists performing in seven public areas around the hospital, including the immensely talented Daphne Khoo and the incredibly funny Hossan Leong, you’ll be able to bask in an afternoon of pure auditory pleasure and witty theatrical antics.

More importantly though lies the message behind the art. Conceived with a conviction that music can uplift those who are down, the event hopes to fill the hospital with energetic beats to empower and give hope to their patients – encouraging them to push forth despite the pain. For the past two years since the concert was held, the joy of the patients stood testament to the power of music and good cheer in their journey of healing.

We are extremely blessed to be able to find music and laughter all around us, but for a patient battling a painful illness, it may prove much more difficult. So in the same spirit that compelled our loved ones to stand beside us when we were down, why not spend your Friday evening standing up for and giving courage to someone who needs it? Plus, you get wonderful music, free of charge.

MusicFest@SGH Campus 2015 will be held at Singapore General Hospital on Friday, 19 June 2015 from 10am to 5pm, plus a finale concert will be held from 7pm to 8pm.
