Mysterious Skin Exhibition Opening Night
When: Thursday, 5 May; 7 – 9pm
Where: Chan Hampe Galleries, Raffles Hotel Arcade
Why: Simon Ng debuts his new series of paintings at Raffles Hotel this Thursday. Join the artist as he personally unveils his work on the opening night. Embracing a blend of styles – most notably that of Expressionist painter Frank Auerbach – Ng creates highly textured illustrations with a theme of the human visage and identity. The exhibition will continue through to 5 June 2016.

The Fair @ Pan Pacific Orchard
When: Thursday, 5 May; 10am – 6pm
Where: Pan Pacific Orchard, 10 Claymore Road
Why: Singapore’s longest-running bazaar is back for its 24th year at the Pan Pacific Orchard Hotel. From handcrafted items to artworks, paintings, clothing and fashionable accessories, you’ll be greeted by various independent vendors, both local and international, showcasing hundreds of items. Rest assured that part of the proceeds from this event will be dedicated to supporting charities around the world.

Yoga in the Gardens 2016

Where: Supertree Grove, Gardens by the Bay

WOAH Fest Sideshow: Of Monsters And Men – Live in Singapore
When: Tuesday, 10 May; 8pm
Where: The Coliseum, Hard Rock Hotel, Resorts World Sentosa
Why: The award-winning Icelandic band, Of Monsters and Men, is bringing their indie folk-pop vibes to Resorts World Sentosa. This will be their first ever headline show in Singapore, so if you love their infectious sound and their melodically energetic tunes, get your tickets sorted and head over to the Hard Rock Hotel on Tuesday night!

Improvised & Experimental Music From SG, Curated by Ujikaji

Where: Esplanade Concourse
Why: Improvised and experimental music might currently be underappreciated and overlooked in Singapore, but we like to see communities searching for ways to bring this style of music to the surface. From 9 to 12 May, hit the Esplanade Concourse to check out performances by a number of diverse artists devoted to the practice improvisation and experimentation.

Thursday Social x Film Screening of “Soccer, My Saviour”
When: Thursday, 5 May; 6 – 10pm
Where: The Hive, 59 New Bridge Road, Clarke Quay
Why: Check out the screening of this inspiring film, based on the story of a former Rwandan soccer player and his role in using sport to bring about peace within a nation affected by conflict. It might be well worth watching, as the film premiered in London this month to a sold out crowd.

Mysterious Skin Exhibition Opening Night

There’s plenty of art and culture to fill up your diary this week – don’t miss out.

The month of May brings some fun and celebratory events to Singapore. From an exhilarating yoga session at Gardens by the Bay to the live performance by Of Monsters and Men at Resorts World, there isn’t a dull moment in sight. Head over to the MINT Museum of Toys this Saturday with your whole family to get some portraits taken in time for Mother’s Day, or have a culturally eye-opening experience at the Royal Thai Embassy where the 2016 Thai Festival will be held all weekend.

For lovers of music, Kult Kafé and the Esplanade Concourse will be hosting a few great artists, so be sure to turn up and get your groove on. If you are the type to appreciate intricate and heartfelt paintings, stop by Raffles Hotel to check out the Mysterious Skin exhibition by Simon Ng.
