Dolce & Gabbana’s Women Spring/Summer 2017 truly brought the carnivale to Milan.

Piquant, bright colours; large floral prints that scream – no, bellow – summer; strong shoulder accents; classic tailored cuts;  bold motifs ranging from religious tropes to gelato; folkloristic tiaras and flower crowns – the Dolce & Gabbana Women Spring/Summer 2017 show was truly a visual spectacle for the eyes.

Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, the designers behind their eponymous Italian luxury fashion label, drew their inspiration for the collection from the Tropico Italiano, an imaginary line that marks the territory stretching from Naples to include Sicily. The collection was an arresting visual play of everything that defined Italian life along the Tropico Italiano: food, ice cream, religion, family, flowers, and of course pizza. Set against a giant marquee bearing the words “Tropico Italiano” and a runway lined with palm trees, it was a celebration of everything delectably Italian and carnivale-worthy.

We’ve narrowed down our favourite 20 looks from the show – be whisked away to Italy and feast your eyes on the glorious collection above!
