The Italian fashion house has just unveiled a range of apparel for their Muslim shoppers.

Just as you thought the fashion world could not get any more exciting, Dolce & Gabbana stands up and makes a bold statement with the launch of their first line of hijabs and abayas.

Breaking the news on Instagram, designer Stefano Gabbana captioned the photo, “Dolce & Gabbana the Abaya collection #dgabaya”, before promptly causing everyone who saw it to audibly gasp at their screens. Style.com/Arabia describes the collection as being in “sheer georgette and satin weave charmeuse fabrics and include copious lace details along hems.” Along with quirky floral-rimmed sunglasses, the entire collection is definitely one for the keeps.

The Italian luxury house is not the only one who has created a collection catered towards Muslim women – the market for it is after all growing by the day. DKNY previously did a Ramadan collection and Uniqlo tapped Hana Tajima for a range of Muslim wear while H&M recently presented a model wearing a hijab in their campaign. Modest fashion is definitely on the rise as more and more designers creation pieces that are either full-length or come in long sleeves.

Now to anticipate more designers to follow suit.
