From denim to flats and overalls – it was couture-gone-casual on the streets of Paris this week. Take a look at our favourite looks and get inspired.

Whoever said that attending a couture fashion show requires you to put on a ball gown? In fact, with the exception of a handful of designers, hardly any couturiers sent those down on their runway at the Paris Couture Fashion Week for Fall 2015 season. Bling-bling is definitely dying out!

The new trend it seems, is to go for something more dramatic yet distinguishably nonchalant with an air of informality about it – with Galliano for Maison Margiela and Jean-Paul Gaultier leading the way.

Back on the streets, fashionistas echoed these trends by appearing decked out in far more casual looks than what we used to see for such an occasion. What, no heels? You bet! Those foot-ache inducing stilettos were ditched in favour of flats and sneakers, and matched with everything from boyfriend denim to overalls and sequin dresses.

We might still be dreaming of those elaborate and glitzy Elie Saab and Armani Prive creations seen on the catwalks – but we’re definitely thankful for the fashionistas on the streets who are constantly showing us how to rock everyday outfits and still be couture-appropriate.

So ditch your heels and let’s endorse some casual chic instead and get inspired by these streetstyle stars.
