Hosted by Gwyneth Paltrow, the event took to the Asian city for the first time and saw everyone from Victoria Beckham to Kate Moss & Naomi Campbell in attendance.

The fundraising gala, amfAR, which has been held all over the world, took to Hong Kong last Saturday for their first star-studded evening in support of the Foundation for AIDS Research. Hosted by the Oscar-winning actress, Gwyneth Paltrow, the night saw a slew of stars, models, singers and designers who were no doubt dressed to the nines.

Raising a grand total of over USD4 million (approx. SGD5.6 million), the gala honoured Malaysian actress, Michelle Yeoh for her committed work and contributions in the global battle against AIDS. Leonardo DiCaprio who may have been a no show, still luxuriously donated four tickets that included a seat with him for his environmental foundation’s fundraiser later this year and a day with him onboard his yacht. The ‘DiCaprio experience’ tickets sold for USD250 000 each (approx. SGD350 000).

Also in attendance were fashion’s greatest muses, Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell, alongside designers, Victoria Beckham and Kenneth Cole and socialite, Paris Hilton. From the Asian front, Chinese actress, Carina Lau, K-pop singers, Choi Seung-hyun (T.O.P) and Jessica Jung from girl band, SNSD graced the event.

On another surprising note, Robin Thicke was the guest performer of the night who belted out covers to Al Green and Michael Jackson songs before serenading the audience with his controversial, ‘Blurred Lines’ – thanks to a lawsuit from Marvin Gaye’s family that the song was copied.

In any case, from the best dressed to the the most exquisite art and collectibles up for auction to an unanticipated performance and the eventual sum raised, clearly the fundraising gala was quite the success.
