After Dallas, Karl Lagerfeld will be taking his fashionable troupe to Austria for the annual Métiers d’Art show in December – time to anticipate his ingenuity again.

After traveling around the world for the Métiers d’Art collection – from Edinburg, Scotland to Mumbai, India and more recently Dallas, Texas – Chanel now turns its heels to Salzburg, Austria for inspiration.

To be held at the 18th century Schloss Leopoldskron, the rococo palace will lend itself to Karl Lagerfeld as a mood board of sorts for the collection. The castle – now a hotel – has been inextricably linked to the rich artistic and intellectual life of Salzburg’s society throughout history. Apparently, it’s allure was so great that it was reportedly confiscated as a national treasure by the German government during World War II.

While Salzburg itself will provide a spectacular backdrop to the show, it’s essential to know the Métiers d’Art collection also celebrates the artisanal expertise of specialty ateliers under Chanel’s Paraffection subsidiary. Such as costume jeweller Desrues, feather dresser Lemarié, embroiderers Maison Lesage and Atelier Montex, shoemaker Massaro, milliner Michel and cashmere producer Barrie.

The annual show will no doubt see a whole horde of celebrities, personalities, editors and models alike when it is unveiled on 2nd December.
