The Hong Kong-based jewellery brands takes inspiration from Cambodia for its a luxurious and majestic collection fit for royals

Few things pique our interest more than jewellery and diamonds and when the two come together, consider that you’ve got our undivided attention. Then enter Hong Kong-based jewellery giant, Chow Tai Fook and the stage will be set on its own, with us as a ready audience.

Now for its fourth high jewellery collection, the brand looks to the culturally-rich land that once belonged to the Khmer empire, Cambodia or more specifically Siem Reap. Featuring 14 immaculately designed sets, the collection is essentially a testament to Chow Tai Fook’s notable craftsmanship and creative prowess. While the auction for the collection itself is set to take place in Hong Kong in October, the range has already been showcased in Hong Kong and cities around China ahead of its Singapore debut last week.

Upon setting sight on the collection first-hand, it was evident that the individual pieces are artistic and intricately encapsulates the Khmer spirit to the core – one that is regal and sublime. Some of the signature pieces in the collection include The Chant, which draws inspiration from the towering trunks that grow out of temple ruins. The 27.649 carat oval red tourmaline carbochon stone is set in an 18K yellow gold necklace that is enveloped with chain tassels to resemble the rays of a rising sun. Grandiose is clearly an understatement here.

Another piece that took our breath away was The Halcyon. Through its slightly geometric and modern aesthetic, the arresting necklace takes after the floating villages on Tonle Sap Lake. A selection of different rectangular forms in blue gems are appropriately placed together to reflect the houses on stilts, if you were to look at the village from above that is. Additionally, this one piece, in our opinion may be less majestic or ostentatious as the others but would indubitably seek to appeal to more hearts.

As Mr. Alan Chan, Director of Group Branding mentioned in our exclusive interview, it’s important that a piece of jewellery creates an emotive effect upon first sight and it’s safe to say that several of these pieces will do just that and so much more.

Chow Tai Fook Jewellery boutique is located at #B2M-229, The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands Singapore.
