If shoes were edible, we’re pretty sure they would be as delectable as candy. According to Melissa however, they already are.

If you asked how we feel when stepping into a shoe store, we’d say it’s the same level of euphoria that’s conjured up when a seven year-old sees a candy store – eyes widen and cue mini bursts of explosive screams. Seeing that there’s a similarity between the two experiences, it’s only right that we deem shoes as delectable candy for the feet.

Taking that notion, the Brazilian eco-friendly jelly footwear brand, Melissa, decided to welcome the sheer pleasure of sweet treats and eating in general as they cooked up quite the storm with their Spring Summer 2015 collection. Essentially, it was only fitting for the brand because who wouldn’t want to eat a Melissa after just one whiff of its bubble gum scent?

Filled with vibrant, saturated hues, the shoes take inspiration from the melted state of ice cream and its toppings, metallic candy wrappers and the menu of traditional 50s’ diners – milkshakes, hot dogs, hamburgers, ketchup and French fries. All in all, you can definitely expect to relish in the gastronomical delights from Melissa.

Spring Summer 2015

Inspired by sportswear, Melissa Bite features chunky heels, accentuated with a T-bar strap for a slight feminine tinge. We all need a pair of flats to take us from the beach to running around town and Melissa Tasty offers the enticing option with its lightweight sandal. Finally, for a little retro vibe, go with the Melissa Strips for its wedge-heel style and thick straps – bound to oh so comfortable.

Melissa Aranha 1979

As they say, originals are always the best. If you’re a true blue Melissa fan then this design has to make an appearance in your collection. Inspired by fishermen sandals, the original shape makes a splendid return after numerous redesigns in the last 35 years.

Melissa x Karl Lagerfeld

Where there’s Karl Lagerfeld, Choupette is most definitely to be close by. This time, the Kaiser returns with the Melissa Ultragirl that features an applique of the doe-eyed Choupette front and center. Additionally, there’s the eccentric Melissa Up Side Down Heel featuring bold geometric cuts, the Melissa Violatta and Melissa Pearl which incorporates the designer’s love for pearls.

Quirky, whimsical, comfortable and still filled with range of vivid hues – it’s no wonder we’re consistently drawn to Melissa as our footwear of choice.
