Polyvore reveals 2016’s biggest style and beauty trends around the world

2016 has been an exciting year for fashion and beauty. We saw a revival of the ’90s, obsessed over Kylie Jenner’s Lip Kits, welcomed chokers back to our decolletage, and decided that sportswear (or ‘athleisure’) is actually chic and appropriate beyond the gym. With all the numerous and wondrously diverse trends that defined the year, it’s definitely been a ride. But what are the biggest trends and who are the style mavens the world can’t get enough of this year?

Best of Polyvore – Nude Lipstick, Sneakers & Kylie Jenner are ‘IN’

This week, Polyvore released its Best of Polyvore report – their fascinating yearly review revealing the year’s top search trends involving fashion, beauty and pop culture influences. Their findings? Singaporeans are massive sneakerheads apparently, with the iconic Adidas Stan Smith reigning as our nation’s #1 accessory. Nude lipstick is also our must-have beauty staple of the year and Gigi Hadid ranked as our ultimate style crush!

It does seem that the rest of the world feels the same way. On the beauty front, nude lipstick has most corners of the world obsessed (with matte lips being a close second). Dressy heels are edged out by a wave of sneaker obsession, with the Adidas Stan Smith and PUMA Disc Wave being the fashion items the world is lusting over. We can’t say we’re surprised; a look at any fashion or beauty guru’s Instagram will tell you as much. And if you love Kylie Jenner‘s style, you’re not alone. The 19-year-old is the reigning style queen of 2016, dethroning her sister Kendall.
