In Good Company: Local label launches first standalone store

Contemporary Singaporean label In Good Company finally launches its first store downtown. Here’s what to expect from the new retail space.
Since launching in December 2012, Singaporean designer label In Good Company has finally opened its first standalone store. ION Orchard has been graced by the homegrown fashion house’s unique presence in the form of a 3,300 sq. ft. space, which carries the brand’s full collection of womenswear, accessories and Mini Me for girls.
In Good Company’s reinvented classics and wearable yet standout tailored styles have been in the good books of local women of all ages for over two years, so the decision to open a standalone store was only a matter of time – after all the success it has garnered to date. They have previously been retailing at departmental store Tangs, multi-label National Design Centre retailer Kapok and renowned local designer collective Keepers. The kids collection, which are children’s versions of the adult line, have also been retailing at Kids 21.
THE STORE
The new retail space is seen as a blank canvas for its designers to experiment with creative aspects that go beyond the clothing. Besides the full collection, the store also features independent products such as curated magazine editions from Magpie, literary collections from local publisher Math Paper Press, handmade leather craft by Hong Kong label Hoiming and laundry products from Australian brand Mr. Black.
Another standout feature of the store is the in-store cafe, manned by Plain Vanilla Bakery. Beyond their famous small bakes, the bakery will extend their menu to offer breakfast sets and fresh gourmet bites. The cafe portion is also fully-furnished with tables designed by Folks Furniture and Grafunkt‘s Nathan Yong, as well as lively flora from Triceratops.
COMMUNITY BUILDING
The incorporation of lifestyle products in the breathable, open space is fitting, with independent labels and the cafe concept complimentary to the brand’s community-building beliefs. A visit to the new retail space won’t only give you a unique shopping experience but also a chance to discover various lifestyle options on offer. We especially love the little Mini Me play area, great for girls having a shopping day out with their mums.
