HTC collaborates with Singapore art and design collective, PHUNK to release a series of limited edition HTC One.

Collaborations in the fashion world – between designers or retail stores – are aplenty but what truly makes us sit up is when typically dreary-looking technology opens up towards design and creativity by partnering with the true talents in the industry.

Following last year’s collaboration with British fashion designer, David Koma for a series of limited edition handsets, HTC returns to further cast light on some of the world’s most innovative minds. Hence, for 2014, HTC teamed up with Singapore-based art and design collective, PHUNK to launch a limited edition version of the HTC One. And when we say limited edition, we mean every sense of the word because only 64 bespoke handsets will be made available. It’s time to get lucky.

Jonah Becker, Head of HTC Design said: “At HTC we are always looking for inspiration from designers and artists across all cultures and media. PHUNK is a hugely talented collective of designers and artists whose global perspective and attention to craft mirrors our values on the HTC design team. Their work responds to the world around them in the same way we design for the attitudes and behaviours we see in people during our creative process.”

By exploring the theme of ‘Wonderment’, the team at PHUNK drew out elements from the environment and society we live in to ink out a spirited and intricate design that is meticulously engraved onto the phone’s metal unibody. PHUNK’s partnership with HTC comes in advance of an exhibition that will stop in Hong Kong, Japan and Singapore and is an impressive way to celebrate the studio’s fascinating 20th anniversary.

There’s no news yet on how to obtain the device but we’ll be gunning for it as soon as a smidgen of information comes our way (so far we hear that the phones will be given away on tech websites). Now, fight us to it!
