We are witnessing the tides turn as the fashion world lays off young girls for the timeless beauty of ladies who age like fine wine.

Two days after Céline and Joan Didion broke the internetSaint Laurent is taking the baton by revealing the face of their new campaign - 71-year-old music icon Joni Mitchell.

The talented singer-songwriter appears delicate and serene in the series of black-and-white images, as she soulfully strums her guitar while dressed in a tunic and wide-brimmed hat.

As the defining voice of the 70s, the eight-time Grammy award winner is as influential in the music industry as Saint Laurent is in fashion. That only reconfirms the brand's creative director, Hedi Slimane's brilliance in counting the music legend in.

After all, it's mature ladies to whom these high fashion brands cater to, instead of younger ladies who ever so often grace their fashion spreads. This is to say that after years of facing controversies with the unrealistic portrayal of models, excessive airbrushing and having girls who are barely teenagers model for campaigns, the fashion industry finally — and collectively — counteracts. The trend of embracing stars past their golden ages is definitely gaining momentum. Now that deserves a Bravo!

Fashion marquees like Saint Laurent and Céline are on the road to illustrate that while fashion may be ephemeral, class is eternal.
