In a recent interview, the original supermodel looks back on her career, and denounces the discrimination suffered by coloured models in the world of fashion. An opportunity for us to unveil our current top 10 dark beauties.

On an interview with the AFP , the famous model Naomi Campbell took the opportunity to point out her thoughts on the lack of black models on the catwalk.

She reveals that her late friend, Nelson Mandela, advised her to speak up about this issue. So she took his advice literally, and revealed that she does not like to be always alone on the catwalk.

The top model gave her opinion, saying  – “When I started my career, there were more models of colour on the catwalk,”

In France in the 1970s,  Paco Rabanne was the one who had the idea to integrate models with dark skin tone. Yves Saint Laurent then followed suit and sent models with varied skin colour on the catwalk, including Rebecca Ayoko and Katoucha Niane .

Today, Naomi Campbell is sadly spot on. However, there is no shortage of black models who stand out – take a look at our list of the most successful, most beautiful dark beauties.
