Best Dressed: Demi Lovato
Everyone was on 'hot bod' alert as Demi Lovato looked pretty in pink with her statement long-sleeved bodycon from Nicolas Jebran. The nude heels give an illusion of longer legs while allowing all the attention to be drawn upwards. We love the simple diamond earrings and slicked-back do.
Best Dressed: Amanda Steele
Celebrity YouTuber and internet sensation Amanda Steele looked perfect for the VMAs red carpet in a chic, pop-art inspired two-piece. The midriff-baring outfit showed just the right amount of toned abs and we're obsessed with her hair and makeup!
Best Dressed: Vanessa Hudgens
Ex-Disney darling Vanessa Hudgens was an ethereal bohemian dream in this trailing blush Naeem Khan gown and delicate flower crown. Though a little on the 'sweet' side for the VMAs, she brought her signature sought-after festival style to the red carpet and we're not complaining!
Best Dressed: Hailee Steinfeld
Hailee Steinfeld looked like she was ready to own a runway with this sleek Stella McCartney jumpsuit. The starlet has never been shy to jump on edgy looks, so we're not surprised by the coordination of this statement choker and matching minaudière. A+!
Best Dressed: Keltie Knight
While hosting the red carpet, Canadian TV host Keltie Knight was a looker herself in this Gabriela Cadena ensemble. The 70s silhouette is flattering on her athletic frame and we can't get enough of the intricate beadwork on this dress!
Best Dressed: Lily Aldridge
No surprise here, model Lily Aldridge absolutely #slays her red carpet look without even having to try. She looks perfect for summer in this cut-out Alexandre Vaulthier gown and those bejewlled wrist bracelets are a nice touch.
Best Dressed: Greer Grammer
MTV's Awkward actress Greer Grammer was tastefully attention-grabbing in this magenta frock. The flattering neckline and cinched waist save what could have otherwise been a frumpy dress. We love the layered skirt look!
Best Dressed: Halsey
Up-and-coming singer Halsey sported a new short crop (we could have mistaken her for actress Ruby Rose!) and an understated jumpsuit for the show. The plunging neckline is definitely a favourite on the red carpet this year.
Best Dressed: Maria Menounos
Maria Menounos wins a spot on our Best Dressed list in her simple Lanvin frock and timeless beauty look. Navy blue and black can never go wrong together.
Best Dressed: Tori Kelly
Singer Tori Kelly donned a playful, casual outfit with high-waisted shorts as the main highlight that gave her endless legs. The graphic heels are the perfect finish to this look!
Worst Dressed: Miley Cyrus
It would be odd not to see the wild Miley Cyrus in a jaw-dropping outfit, and after a tame pleather get up at last year's awards, the VMAs host came back with a bang - booty and bust on show in custome Versace. She definitely knows how to get the public talking, and we foresee this being the highlight of the night for a while!
Worst Dressed: Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift has a little too much going on here - houndstooth, holographic sheen and arabian-inspired makeup all at once? We say keep it to just one standout detail!
Worst Dressed: Serayah
One of Taylor's Bad Blood posse members Serayah joins her in our Worst Dressed list. This slashed disaster does nothing for the model's figure and we can't believe her stylist had the heart to match the Herve Leger by Max Azria dress with an equally terrifying pair of zip-up heels.
Worst Dressed: Amber Rose
We get the fact that Amber Rose is trying to break stereotypes and empower women out there (so she says), but putting up all the names you've been called on show, in bright colours, on a catsuit? No. We're really hoping to see her in a classier getup at the next awards she attends.
Worst Dressed: Gigi Hadid
The usually impeccably dressed Gigi Hadid is a bummer at the awards last night in this orange Emilia Wickstead ensemble. We're not sure if she accidentally overloaded on the fake tan or if the dress is making her look a little too bronzed...plus it's just holding her bits badly in all the wrong places!
Worst Dressed: Nicki Minaj
We fell in love with Nicki Minaj's opening performance during the show, but we say enough with the barely-there dresses for the red carpet. We're tired of the lace and Swarovski-adorned variations, but a metallic gold La Bourjoisie piece leaving little to the imagination? We'll pass.
Worst Dressed: Britney Spears
Our question is, if Britney Spears wasn't performing for the awards, why was she dressed like this? The all-over bling is just too much and the makeup was over-the-top. If we could change one thing about this look we'd switch up the burlesque dress (also by La Bourjoisie) for a more conservative, form-fitting one.
Worst Dressed: Kim Kardashian
Kanye West and Kim Kardashian were at it again in matching neutral hues for the VMAs red carpet. We understand Kim's pregnant with baby no. 2 on the way, but with all the bucks she's got, surely she could have afforded a more appropriate maternity-friendly gown? The satin is unforgiving on all her curves and the military-inspired details on this Balmain gown are pretty passé.
Worst Dressed: Kris Jenner
Lion mom Kris Jenner seems to be channeling her inner Morticia Addams. The strappy neck detail is too severe on her aged self and as much as we'd love to give her points for keeping up to date with the times, some fashion trends are just not meant for everyone. Keep it simple, Kris!
Worst Dressed: Ciara
Just when we commended Ciara on her lust-worthy style as of late, she broke our hearts this time round with this all-over fringe Alexandre Vaulthier outfit. This may have looked good on the runway, but definitely not passable for the red carpet!
