Always fumbling for your keys in your bag? Now you don’t have to with Ralph Lauren’s light-up Ricky bag.

Ralph Lauren doesn’t want people to only see his brand as timeless and classic. He wants recognition for being modern and innovative, for which he uses technology to achieve.

A fashionable bag is essential, but the ultimate statement bag is one that combines fashion and functionality. Most women don’t have the time to spend hours looking for their keys and lipsticks, lost in the depths of their bag. To top it off, they are often harassed by the low battery symbol on their smartphones. For that problem, Ralph Lauren took matters into his own hands and spent almost eight months developing and re-inventing a bag that would fit seamlessly into the hectic lives of women.

Recently, during New York Fashion Week, the American designer showcased a 4D show and he continued in this vein with his iconic Ricky bag. Initially designed for his wife in 2005, the bag soon became emblematic of the brand.

It is the first luxurious smart bag, providing light and phone-charging capacity simultaneously. This smart bag features an illuminated interior, thanks to four discreet LED lights that activate when the bag is opened, as well as an integrated USB port for charging your smartphone.

The exemplary accessory takes up to 12 hours to construct and is reliably chic with its rose-gold-plated-brass hardware, engraved with the brand’s logo, and a contrasting purple calfskin lining for a touch of colour.

The bag will debut as limited release for the festive season with samples available for special order in 10 Ralph Lauren shops. It will then be produced on a wider scale in February for a cool USD5000 (approx SGD7000).
