Inspired by a 19th century painting, the latest range from Zalia is a whole host of intricate embroideries, in-house designed prints and innovative silhouettes.

A lot of times when it comes to sourcing for special occasion clothes – think gowns – dollar signs start flashing in your head. Yes, they’re impeccably made with a brilliant dose of intricacy and fancy craftsmanship but if you’re only going to wear it once or twice and relegate it to the back of your wardrobes soon after, then is the dough that you’re dropping really worth it?

Hence to cater to a crowd that relishes in affordable yet beautifully made clothes that are ideal to wear for cocktail events or gala nights, Zalia effortlessly graces our screens. Designed in-house, the label essentially carries a range of pieces that are conservative but yet does not fall short on the sartorial scale.

For the 2015 collection, the designs are inspired by The Supper at the Ball painting by 19th century leading German artist Adolph Menzel, and hence fuses 19th century glamour to the modern times. You’ll get to feast your eyes on detailed embellishments, embroideries and hand beading, along with prints that were created in-house. From bold hues of red, gold and midnight blue, the colour palette is then balanced off with injections of soft pastels and ivory. As for the silhouettes, expect to see a subtle play on crop tops, peplums and slits that create the illusion but are far from revealing.

With over 170 styles to choose from, the Zalia 2015 collection will be available for pre-order on Zalora from Friday, 24 April 2015. Now to get your cards ready and shop away!
