The Chinese city gets to stage Valentino’s ‘Collection Shanghai 2013’ show in its honour. Watch the video here!

Move over Tokyo! Shanghai is definitely having a big fashion moment this year and further establishing itself as Asia’s top fashion destination. Or at least the big designers think so!

Taking into consideration that this year alone, the Chinese cosmopolitan city has seen designer brands like Hugo Boss and Burberry staging their shows, major events and increasing their presence – it is safe to say that it is the Asian city to beat when it comes to fashion.

The latest label to present as ‘ode’ to Shanghai is none other than Valentino. Last week, November 14, the Italian house presented an exclusive capsule collection entitled ‘Shanghai 2013‘  which was staged at one of the city’s most central locations on the Bund, and Live-streamed to the rest of the world on a dedicated webpage.

For those who missed the show (you can watch it above!), it was a unique one indeed as it incorporated Ready to Wear, accessories and even Haute Couture creations all part of one collection – something which the label has not done before.

The dominating hue was red (inspired by the Chinese culture where it is the colour of good fortune) and saw models strutting on the runway with various styles ranging from PVC leather skirts and trenches teamed with chiffon blouses to full red lace gowns and all that’s in between.

Other than the colour, the unifying element was the elegance, feminine and glamorous mood which reflected the brand’s unmistakable identity.

While the collection is now exclusively available for purchase at the new Valentino Shanghai flagship store at IAPM, the rest of us have to wait until April 2014 to get our hands on it at our local Valentino boutiques worldwide.

Alternatively, you can book a ticket to Shanghai if you must. Perfect shopping holiday we think!
