Stumped over what to wear this Chinese New Year? Fret not, as we’ve got you covered with 20 stylish outfits to choose from.

In just a few weeks time, we’ll be bidding adieu to the Year of the Horse and welcoming the Year of the Goat – giving us a perfectly great reason to revamp our wardrobes.

According to traditional custom (and our womanly shopping needs), it’s a must to wear brand new clothing and shoes to celebrate the incoming of a new Lunar New Year – and obviously, we’ll never say no to an excuse to shop.

When shopping for the perfect Chinese New Year outfit, there are some lucky colours to keep in mind for 2015. As tradition states, the colour you are wearing when the clock strikes midnight is believed to determine your future luck and success. 2015 is the year of the wood Feng Shui element – the wood goat – and to bring in a year of good luck, it is recommended you stock up your wardrobe with shades of brown and green. To complement the woody element, you can also choose to wear water tones such as an array of blue shades and other earthy tones such as black.

If browns, greens and blues aren’t your thing, you should opt the traditional Chinese New Year red – as it is believed that red shades will scare away evil spirits and bad fortune.

More often than not, finding an appropriate outfit can be a stressful task – with that in mind, we’ve rounded up a list of 20 fashion-forward outfits that are bound to please everyone and abide to traditional custom rules.
