How are you supposed to juggle champagne, nibble on canapés and hold a handbag at the same time? Thanks to crossbody bags, you don’t have to.

Despite being the most practical option, crossbody bags are oftentimes considered less stylish than clutches or top-handle bags. We reluctantly sling these bags across our body, thinking they would obstruct our stellar outfit.

Designers at Marni, Marc Jacobs, Burberry, Emilio Pucci and Givenchy begged to differ. Along with other prestigious labels, they brought the crossbody back into the fashion scene this year.

The bags either blend harmoniously with the outfit, or stand out to complete the look, but the runways never saw them as a bunch of accessories out of place. Marni’s ready-to-wear getup would be plain, a tad bit too restrained, if it weren’t for the snake-print and fur crossbody bags. Similarly, Chloe’s and Emilio Pucci’s Bohemian-inspired looks wouldn’t be complete without their fringed bags adding the final touches.

If you’re still feeling iffy about wearing one, head to our gallery to see our picks of 20 practical and chic crossbody bags. They will make your outfit and not break it as long as you stop carrying it and start wearing it.
