Headphones are the new handbags. Check out these dazzling Frends creations for the Italian fashion house which are not for the faint-hearted.
Why we love it:
Just when we thought Dolce & Gabbana had sent yet another collection down its Fall 2015 runway last March centred solely around their Sicilian roots, we looked again. The Italian duo decided to make an ode to the cool kids with gadgets that looked like over-sized, embellished headbands with cables attached. Those headbands were actually headphones – fully functional, leather-bound, bedazzled, fox fur-covered headphones.
The tech brand behind this luxe accessory is Frends, a relatively new but successful startup by a group of snowboarders aiming to create stylish music accessories for females. The brand has received abundant recognition on social media and online, being a favourite among fashion-lovers and celebrities alike.
Initially thought to have been a runway-only collaboration between the tech label and fashion house, two of the headphone designs eventually landed on luxury e-tailer Moda Operandi’s site where they were available for pre-orders with a whopping USD7995 price tag, sending avid followers of both brands into a frenzy.
