Digital prints are going nowhere this season so if you haven’t embraced and shopped this trend yet, here are some tips and options to help you decide.

Prints. Not your usual run of the mill stripes, dots, check and florals but digital prints. Designers have taken to their computers and thrown a whole bevy of digital prints into the foreground for a few seasons now. These prints are highly innovative and call for serious attention when worn. Fall 2013 sees a beautiful encapsulation of the same trend heralded by Britain’s prodigy, Mary Katrantzou.

Designers have embraced technology with open arms and see it as an asset to beef up their brand in fashion’s fast paced and competitive realm. The freedom to design according to their desires has spurned their creativity to a whole new dimension and the crowd is most definitely going crazy season after season.

There’s always something different that designers can offer with digital prints, from scenic sunsets to an abstract amalgamation of their thoughts. The runways of Spring 2014 were also laden with prints from the likes of Matthew Williamson and Peter Pilotto, so there is no bidding adieu to this trend, at least not for now.

Nonetheless, working with bold and striking digitally printed apparels can be a tricky task. One that should be approached with caution or you may run the risk of appearing as a kaleidoscopic explosion. When mixing and matching prints, always ensure they are in complementary tones to each other and the scale of prints are balanced. For instance, if you have a skirt with oversized prints, offset it with a top with smaller prints.

Colour also plays a big role. If you don’t want to go overboard, this season sees some great prints in monochrome and toned down shades which even the less brave would embrace.

As digital prints continue to be a recurring motif on runways, it is no wonder our hearts are in a constant flurry when we have a wardrobe filled with an array of prints. The possibilities are endless!
