Update your closet with this season latest trend, 60’s fashion, as seen on the runways of Saint Laurent, Louis Vuitton, Gucci and more.

Mini skirts, cropped pants and swing dresses…the Fall Winter 2014/ 15 collections are all about the sixties.

Spotted at Nicolas Ghesquiere’s great debut show at Louis Vuitton, the everlasting trend was similarly all over the European catwalks, where designers seemed to have mutually agreed upon a sixties revival. At Saint Laurent, Gucci and Miu Miu among others, the Swinging Sixties girl wore trapeze dresses with kitten heels, peter pan collars and mary jane shoes.

Specifically, fashion houses seemed inspired not by the still conservative sixties style woman but rather by the Beatles-loving, London-living twenty-something girls who brought scandalous mini-skirts to the everyday woman’s closet.

As a result, the 2014 sixties look does not include any of Brigitte Bardot’s numerous gingham dresses, but rather skirts and tops in rough and thick textures like leather, suede and even sporty fabrics.

To get the a-la-Twiggy look and to create a nonchalant and pragmatic outfit, focus on a mini skirt, worn with a short jacket or a sleeveless turtleneck.

Your office air conditioning is too cold to show too much leg? Go for cropped pants, wear them about 4cm above the ankle – pair them with a cardigan and some loafers or ballet pumps to channel your inner Audrey Hepburn.

Lucky for us, in the sixties shoes were low heeled or even completely flat, so for once being fashionable does not have to rhyme with stilettos and achy toes.

The best thing about this trend? It allows you to wear comfy pieces and short skirts, which is definitely a plus in Singapore’s sunny weather.
