Models Off-Duty: How to pull off their effortless look?
updated the 6 October 2015 à 22:53We take a look at 15 of our favourite models and find out how to recreate their effortless styles.
Models seem to have it all – long legs, promising careers, designer clothes… it’s like they can do no wrong. Their personal style always has us hungry for what they wear next as we look through snap after snap of street style during fashion weeks. And all this while changing into multiple outfits, several makeup looks and rushing from show to show. How do they do it?
COMFORT OVER EVERYTHING
A model’s wardrobe is the ultimate style goal for lazy girls everywhere. Their outfits have to be pre-planned to be as easy to put on and take off as possible, between shows, fittings and castings. At the same time, they have to be ready for street style opportunities by photographers. To dive headfirst into the effortless model style, remember that clothes have to allow movement, while bags should be roomy enough for plenty of your day’s necessities, and shoes need to take you from day to night (so keep the heels to a minimum). If whatever you’re wearing leaves you feeling uncomfortable, you’re not doing it right.
BASICS
The effortless fashion foundation for these catwalkers begins with basics that go well together such as plain T-Shirts, tailored pieces and well-fitting jeans, since they’re required to be dressed in them for most castings. Use those as a starting point for your fashion arsenal as well and you’ll be on the right track. Statement pieces are always kept to accessories and other seasonal items such as coats and scarves. Take the time to find what looks good on you, and similar silhouettes will be your go-to if you find yourself rushing without any time to think about an outfit.
BEAUTY CARE
Looking good is part of the job, so an off day in the maintenance department is unacceptable for any model. Take care of your skin and hair and you’ll look less unkempt, no matter the ensemble. Never skip a day of your skincare routine so your skin’s at its best condition whether day or night. Make the most out of your makeup and turn them into multi-tasking heroes when you’re on the go, and make a trip to the salon every few weeks to snip off your split ends or refresh your hair colour.
