After copious amounts of research (and alcohol), we have compiled a list of 10 of what we reckon are the crème-de-la-crème of cocktail bars on the sunny island.

The Tippling Club

Why we love it: This award-winning restaurant and bar has received tall praise – and rightly so. It is indubitably the Singapore representative of what a fantastic cocktail bar is all about. Made with meticulous attention to detail and a passionate love for mixology, the cocktails that The Tippling Club comes out with are perfection. For dependable service and great ambiance, this is one place you cannot go wrong with.

Marie France Asia recommends: The Transatlanticism cocktail

The Tippling Club is located at 38 Tanjong Pagar Road, 088461

The Library

Why we love it: From the whole ‘secret’ concept, to needing a password to enter, to entering through a Narnia-like little space only to exiting into a bar that looks like something out of the 1920s, to tasting the delightfully presented cocktails – The Library is one of the best cocktail bars in town. Each drink on the menu is presented with scientific precision and the drinks are equally thoughtfully prepared and served in unconventional things ranging from matryoshka dolls to inkpots with quills. For a truly unique cocktail experience, this bar is a must-visit. Now on how to get THAT password… we’ll leave it to you to figure!

Marie France Asia recommends: the piscotheque! and Shrub-a-dub-dub cocktails

The Library is located at 47 Keong Saik Rd, 089151

Jigger & Pony

Why we love it: Spacious and unequivocally charming, Jigger & Pony is a great venue for enjoying a nice evening out as a couple or with a group of friends. Apart from the fact that they serve some stellar cocktails, we particularly love this bar for its impeccable service.

Marie France Asia recommends: the Jack Rose cocktail

Jigger & Pony is located at 101 Amoy Street, 069921

Catalunya

Why we love it: Apart from the strategic location, floating in the middle of Marina Bay, this bar has been wowing us with its unusual concoctions since it opened its doors last year. As expected, the ambiance is classy and a little more on the fancy side, and so are the cocktails. If you like experimental and exquisite cocktails, head there for pre-party drinks to get the night started on the right note.

Marie France Asia recommends: the Stairway to Heaven cocktail

Catalunya is located at the Fullerton Pavilion 82, Collyer Quay, 049327

Mariko’s

Why we love it: Apart from the obvious charm of the location on Jiak Chuan Street and the fancy-yet-casual ambience of the chic bar, Mariko’s boasts a menu of some of the most unique Japanese-inspired cocktails Singapore bars have to offer. With oriental elements infused into their blends, their unconventional cocktails have equally unconventional names – usually associated with dangerous liaisons (Cheating Husband, The Other Woman), loaded with equally dangerous amounts of alcohol.

Marie France Asia recommends: the cheating husband cocktail

Mariko’s is located at 4 Jiak Chuan Road, 089261

The Cufflink Club

Why we love it: Just next-door to Mariko’s, you’ll find this fancy cocktail bar which serves cocktails done to perfection. We love the elegant decor and the cheeky cocktail menu which always proves hard to choose from.

Marie France Asia recommends: the Porn Star cocktail

The Cuflink Club is located at 6 Jiak Chuan Rd, 089262

28 Hong Kong Street

Why we love it: A variation of the secret hole-in-the-wall bar concept, this bar takes nondescript to a whole new level with its lack of a name and signboard. But manage to find it and you will be welcomed into a swanky new-york style bar that is modern and chic. We also secretly love this place after an especially trying day at work, because of its custom of having 45 ml shots as compared to the standard 35ml in Singapore, at pocket-friendly prices no less. Lovers of potent drinks, rejoice!

Marie France Asia recommends: the slip me a mickey cocktail

28 Hong Kong Street (as the name would suggest) is located at 28 Hong Kong Street, 059667

The Spiffy Dapper

Why we love it: If you watched The Great Gatsby and wished you inhabited its whimsical, heady world of quick jazz, illicit booze and happy parties, you’ll love the 1920s speakeasy concept of The Spiffy Dapper. With tasty concoctions like ‘Drugstore Cowboy’ and ‘Sheik on the level’, you certainly won’t be bored with the variety of choices available at this bar.

Marie France Asia recommends you try the drugstore cowboy cocktail

The Spiffy Dapper is located at 61 Boat Quay, 049849

Bar Stories

Why we love it: If you’re looking for cocktails with a twist, Bar Stories is definitely the place to visit. The bar prides itself on the fact that they serve ‘specialised’ cocktails, meaning there are no menus and the cocktails are just a matter of what one feels like having – so this could be a blend, albeit a perfect one, of a whole range of things.

Bar Stories is located at 55/57A Haji Lane, Arab Street, 189248

Maison Ikkoku

Why we love it: This Japanese-concept space, tucked away in a corner of Kandahar Street in the Arab Street area, serves as a Cafe by day and a swanky cocktail bar by night. Whilst the prices of the cocktails can go pretty steep, the mixologist Ethan Lesie Leong’s magic concoctions are worth every penny.

Marie France Asia recommends: the rosemary and passionfruit based cocktail (there is no menu you just ask if you want it sweet, sour or strong!)

Maison Ikkoku is located at 20 Kandahar Street, 198885
