Change up your usual high tea session with something a little more creative. Inspired by Singaporean author, Melanie Lee's book.

High teas are great for enjoying quiet atmosphere, spending good time with friends, and indulging in delicious treats. It should ideally be a doctor's prescription, don't you think? So, trust us when we say we almost always jump at the chance for a delightful afternoon at a high tea, but we tend to get a little demanding with our options during the holiday season.

That’s why when we heard about a high tea inspired by a book, we had to go and see what oodles of creativity we’ll land upon. Teaming up with Singaporean author, Melanie Lee and her hilarious "Imaginary Friends: 26 Fables for the Kid in Us" book, Pan Pacific’s Executive Chef, Vincent Aw created a specially-designed high tea that will let your imagination run wild as you eventually lose track of time.

Within the warm atmosphere of Pan Pacific Marketplace, set yourself down in their comfortable chairs and ask for the Imaginary Friends Afternoon Tea (SGD58++ for 2 adults, including tea and coffee).

Generous and creative, the high tea stand features 10 items, representing some of the book's characters. You can play ‘guess who’ if you have read the book, otherwise simply spend your time splurging on delectable savories and sweets bites.

However, it would definitely be a much more entertaining time if you knew some of the yummy characters such as Lucy the Lively Leek and Greta the Grouch Grape. Translated in the Imaginary Afternoon Tea, the characters have become a tasteful and delicate panna cotta combining grape and leek. Moving on, beyond the aroma, you can't help but notice this rocky-looking treat - a durian puff covered with meringue spikes. This is Dan The Dowdy Durian Man, a real delight

Go from one character to another and re-live the story through a novel, amusing and ambrosial angle. If there’s one thing you should do during the festive season, we say take some time out for yourself, invite a couple of friends and indulge in the Imaginary Afternoon Tea. You’ll leave not only with your tummies fulfilled but with your minds whirring from sheer creativity.

Available daily from 3.00pm to 5.00pm, till 31 December 2014. Call for reservations 6826 8240 or email to [email protected]
