Listed on the World’s 50 Best Bars list, the dim place has recently gone through a renovation to expand its bar seating. With the lengthy list of signature cocktails—each with the alcohol strength helpfully indicated, you can expect mean classics like barrel-aged Negroni and Vieux Carre.

Shortlisted for Best Culinary Experience in a Bar, Best Service Crew and Best Spirits and Liquor Selection, in The Cointreau Most Creative Cocktail Programme earlier this year, the gorgeous airy space with bulbous light fixtures do classic cocktails that you will approve of. The bar team is led by head bartender Tom Hogan and Bannie Kang who can really make solid drinks. And don't forget to check out their East-meets-West tapas by Chef Carlos Montobbio.

Popular for their quirky-cheeky cocktails, the bar's serves up delectable drinks in collegiate Solo cups or with toy soldiers frozen in ice blocks. Beware of the after-work crowd and check out their bathroom soundtrack that recite verses of a British show called Alan Partridge.

Located in the fresh, open air space atop the Esplanade, the rooftop bar offers a breathtaking 360 degree view of Marina Bay and the Central Business District. Look out for Japanese mixologist Tomoyuki Kitazoe whose sweet creations include favourite soursop calamansi martini and premium green tea mojito.

The Horse’s Mouth
This underground bar is popular for their Japanese-style drinks using sake or other Japanese ingredients. You will get to see splashes of colour from the origami-like cascades by the wall and you can order food from the restaurant upstairs, Uma Uma Ramen.

The 65-seater watering hole features bright colourful red booths, vintage liquor posters and a communal table made from an unfinished Indonesian Suar wood log. Bartender Aki Eguchi and Stuart Danker would get you high with Tanqueray Gin, lime, simple syrup, mint, Angostura Bitters.

Ah Sam Cold Drink Stall
Simply go up to the bar and tell them what you want, don't expect a menu. Expect classics like Old Fashioneds and Manhattans which are strong and tasty. Sip them with your traditional food cravings like Hokkien mee and carrot cake.

Nutmeg & Clove
Looking a lot like a traditional Chinese medicine hall coupled with plenty of drawers and antique wooden feels, the spot is reminiscent of an opium den. The colonial trade-inspired cocktails are worth a try, including the Golden Elixir - a gin mixed with homemade chrysanthemum syrup, fernet branca, and lemon juice.
