With an extensive menu of beautifully-plated dishes from all corners of Mexico and a classy, upscale interior at Chijmes, El Mero Mero is a perfect place for a first date or night out with close friends. As most of their ingredients are sourced directly from Mexico, the menu changes each month depending on what’s available, keeping things fresh and interesting. Fortunately, their prawn, spicy tomatillo salsa, and mozzarella enchiladas verdes seem to be a mainstay on the menu, much to the delight of their regulars.

Muchachos
For mission-style burritos jam packed with all the goodies you can think of, look no further than the super stylish Muchachos at Keong Saik Road. The concrete-clad industrial-chic store lets you build your own burrito, subway style, with a choice of protein, filling, salsa, and sides, all wrapped up in a tortilla and some tin foil - classic mission style. Big fans of Mexican hot sauce will love their authentic range, including Sriracha and Tapatio. But be warned - these aren’t for the faint of heart! If it’s too much for you, wash it down with one of their Mexican beers or sodas.

Senõr Taco
Located at Clarke Quay, Senõr Taco has been dishing out fresh, authentic, and unpretentious Mexican street food to locals and tourists alike since 2009. If the 10 varieties of tacos on the menu make it too hard to choose from, their signature taco al pastor - a mean blend of al pastor pork or chicken, pineapple, onion, and coriander - is a must-try. To reinforce the street culture vibe, the restaurant invokes the atmosphere of a typical Mexican bar, complete with swinging saloon doors, rustic wooden and metal furniture, and an incredible graffiti mural depicting Mexico’s norteno culture.

This vibrant and upbeat Latin chillout spot is certainly not hard to miss as you shop your way down Haji Lane. Piedra Negra is a favourite amongst those looking to unwind with an after-work margarita. To help wash down their extensive cocktail list, give the chunky guacamole a go. Prepared in front of your eyes with just the right amount of lime and chilli, paired with warm and crunchy tortillas to boot, it’ll definitely hit the spot after a long day of work (or shopping). Much like Senõr Taco, street side chill is the vibe here, so grab a seat outside and soak up the atmosphere with some tasty grub.

Lucha Loco
