Stave off the heat with these ice cold Korean bingsu desserts. Here are 8 for you to indulge in.

Phew, the weather has been monstrously hot these days and we would love nothing more than a nice big bowl of shaved ice to cool us down. Thankfully the Korean wave of bingsu – shaved ice – has hit our shores with much enthusiasm.

The Korean ice kacang of sorts is a new wave of icy cold desserts to gain momentum in Singapore. Much creamier and coarser in texture than its predecessor – the Taiwanese shaved ice – we’re loving the east-meets-west take on the Korean bingsus here. Think the creamy decadence of cookies and cream ice cream paired with milky shaved ice or the more traditional red bean shaved ice topped with green tea ice cream.

Authentic Korean dessert cafes like South Korean chain Banana Tree have opened its doors in town with each serving their own version of bingsu.

Ride the ice cool Korean wave and stave off the sweltering heat. The cold never bothered us anyway.
