VCR
Located in the old neighbourhood of Pudu, in an unsuspecting black house with a stone pathway leading to the front door, VCR feels like home when you first step into the premises. It is a place where old architecture meets minimalist modernity. Framed windows make for moody natural lighting and soft shadows. VCR takes its coffee culture seriously, though they serve the most delightful cakes and brunch fare too.

The Library Coffee Bar
Very aptly named, The Library Coffee Bar provides coffee and dessert lovers with a perfectly cosy spot to unwind and indulge in a hot cuppa, some casual grub, and maybe a good book or two. The cafe has a number of outlets around Malaysia, with a handful in KL worth visiting. You won’t get tired of the retro chic interior and bustling vibes.

Merchant’s Lane 美真林
Merchant’s Lane invites a very old school charm into its lovely interior thanks to the cosy mingling of wooden furnishings, textured walls, and its mish-mash of colourful ornamentation, not to mention pleasant hints of natural greenery. With its unique outdoor seating area that boasts a peaceful atmosphere and moody natural lighting, this hidden gem of a cafe makes for a great, relaxing spot to kick back with a flat white or iced mocha. We highly recommend the signature South China Sea dish (grilled salmon with 63 C eggs, salsa and house-made hash).

Garage 51
As the name likely implies, this award-winning cafe is located in an industrial garage - and yes, it is a pretty incredible visual feast for customers, with its unique interior design totally fitting the bill, right down to the wooden tables with their wrought iron legs, and the intriguing light fixtures. The exterior of the garage itself is a sight to behold thanks to vibrant illustrations that crawl up the walls. And if you’re wondering about the food - well, let’s just say their fully-loaded sweet treats will surprise you.

FEEKA Coffee Roasters
With its Bohemian vibes and strong following, FEEKA is a pretty spot that any hipster would delight at. With both an indoor and outdoor seating area, every corner of this cafe is different and unique - right down to its chairs and tables. Even the walls are an amalgamation of mismatched colours. We like the old school simplicity and the cosy setting that FEEKA provides. Definitely a quintessential cafe to go on any coffee lover's must-visit list.

PULP by Papa Palheta
This aesthetically pleasing cafe is all precise lines and coffee paraphernalia. Yup, PULP has gotten a lot of attention over the years. Located within a historic printing plant in Bangsar, the spacious coffee bar is staffed by expert baristas who take coffee brewing to the next level. The cafe doubles up as a retail space as well, with a large number of coffee related products on display that might be worth a gander if you take your coffee just as seriously as these guys do. They serve up some pretty photogenic food as well, so don’t forget to bring your camera!

The Grumpy Cyclist
This intriguing cafe celebrates everything bicycle related. With bikes mounted on walls and trippy artwork depicting cyclists on display, it’s hard not to realise this. It makes for one of the best spots for those interested in the sport to gather and socialise over a great cup of coffee and a hearty breakfast. Word has it that their brunch fare is pretty impressive, so even if you’re not a huge fan of cycling, you might want to give their food a go!

Three Little Birds Coffee
With lush greenery and water features, the Sentul branch of the zen-like Three Little Birds Coffee cafe is an appealing oasis to escape the stresses of the city. Expect lip-smacking coffee and lovely cakes. While it gets busy during working hours, they stay open till fairly late in the night, so the cafe morphs into a cosy little hangout in the evenings.
