Urban Bites, 161 Telok Ayer street, Singapore 068615

“After almost 4 years in Singapore, I can confidently say that Urban Bites in the only authentic Lebanese restaurant in town. And spoken from a born and bred Lebanese, you just have to take my word for it. While I’m mostly eating local and various kinds of food around here, I love going there when I miss all the yummy dishes from back home. Everything in their menu – especially the generous mezze platter which reminds me of home, and the delicious kebbe and cheese rolls… You just have to try it to know what I mean.“

49 Seats, Orchard Central #08-08, Singapore 238896

“After picking this cafe on a whim because there was nothing else that caught our eye, my friends and I were pleasantly taken in. From the decor – menus as wallpaper and exposed ceiling – to the Italian-Asian and a mix of Western cuisine, and cosy ambiance thanks to the dim lighting, this is the best place in town to escape from the hustle and bustle. Who knew a place in Orchard could be quiet?”

PS Cafe, 290 Orchard Rd, #03-41/44 Paragon, Singapore 238859

“During my short time in Singapore, PS Cafe was my go-to spot. I’ve tried their salads, sides, burgers, sandwiches and desserts and so far nothing has disappointed me. My favourites are the onion burger and PS steak sandwich and whatever I eat, I always get their delicious sangria.”

Dongbei Mei Shi Fan Dian, 195 New Bridge Road, Singapore 059425

“I am quite adventurous with food and I love going to new places, for me to actually go back several times – now that’s a feat. And the only place in Singapore that has accomplished that is the Dongbei Mei Shi Fan Dian in Chinatown. There are many Northeastern Chinese food places dotted around Chinatown, but the only one worth visiting is the extremely crowded one just after the whole row of bak kwa shops. I always order the same 3 things when I’m there, Dry-fried French Beans, Salted Egg Pumpkin and Guobao Pork – a sweet and sour pork dish coated in tapoica flour batter. It’s best to go with 3 or more people to fully enjoy their dishes and barbecue skewers with spicy powder. Ok, I’m going there tonight after telling you all this!”

Little Diner, 789 Bukit Timah Rd, Singapore 269763

“Being new to Singapore my favourite restaurant or cafe keeps changing with each new discovery every week, but right now Little Diner in Bukit Timah is my go-to place. This New York-style restaurant and bar serves delicious American comfort food at reasonable rates. I pretty much love everything on the menu but be sure to check out the truffle fries and buttermilk fried chicken there! The red velvet pancakes are not to be missed either.”

Revelry Cafe, 21 Lorong Kilat #01-02, Singapore 598123

“This cafe is rather new, but it made it to my favourites list partly because I grew up in the neighbourhood in my early years. It serves both sweet and savoury waffles, the latter in which you have got to try. Savoury waffles may sound like an odd combination, but I think you’ll get a nice surprise! They also provide excellent service, and the place is small enough to feel cosy yet not overcrowded.”

Pacamara Boutique Coffee Roasters, 85 Upper Thomson Road, Singapore 574333
“Absolutely love the white-washed and minimal interior of Pacamara, which was a stark contrast from other cafes that focus on heavy aesthetics and the revival of traditional childhood days. While the aesthetics already sealed the deal for me, the food and coffee easily raised Pacamara up a few more notches to become my favourite cafe to date. What’s not to love about perfectly poached eggs drenched in hollandaise sauce, lying on a bed of smoked salmon? Definitely my weakness. My only qualm? The truffle fries could have been a tad crispier and a tad more truffle-y.”

Kith Café, 31 Ocean Way, Quayside Isle, Singapore 098373

“My favourite go-to cafe for some ‘getaway’ from the city will be Kith Café at Quayside Isle. It serves a really affordable set lunch made of fresh ingredients and is tucked away at a corner of the island which makes it the perfect hide out.

Also, I love the Kith Kopi there, it’s coffee with a local twist.”
