Easy Pies & Tarts Recipes: Tarte Tatin with Onions & Spices

This pie is laden with character and very distinct flavours that make for a powerful and smooth taste.

Onion Tart tatin

Preparation: 15 min

Cooking Time: 30 min

Serves 4
Ingredients:

1 Pure Butter Pie Gold Puff Pastry
200 G MATCHBOX ® NATURE HERTA
3 Large Onions

30g White Raisins
1 pinch of allspice
1 cilantro sprig
1 Nut Butter
1 tsp Olive Oil

I tsp Coffee Sugar Powder

Method:

1. Preheat oven to 200°C. Peel the onions and cut them into slices.

2. In a skillet, sauté the onions with a drizzle of olive oil and a knob of butter. Sprinkle lightly with powdered sugar and continue to sauté until onions are caramelized.

3. Butter a pie dish and place the caramelized onions in it

4. In a skillet , fry strips, add white raisins, and a pinch of allspice. Add the previously chopped coriander and mix well.

5. Pour topping over the onions and gently spread the dough over. Fold the edges. Prick the dough with a fork to prevent it from swelling during cooking. Bake for 18-20 minutes, whilst observing. Unmold the tarte tatin with onions before serving.

Tip: You can also use smoked bacon strips
