Breakfast: Food we should consume very little of!

updated the 13 June 2014 à 23:09

These are the foods we should be careful consuming or fall into the trap!

PetitDejeuner2

White Bread:

Quickly chewed, quickly swallowed and quickly absorbed. These calories are so quickly processed that they will not last the entire morning. Two large or 3 small slices maximum.

Breakfast at Brunch:

Yes, we should definitely vary our breakfast…but not have it all in one sitting! Two slices of smoked salmon, toast, a cereal bowl, fruit and a yogurt, is clearly too much.

Chocolate/hazelnut spread:

Since spreads like Nutella fall into the category of “too delicious” foods, eating one tablespoon makes us automatically want to eat a second (and a third, and a fourth…). Go for jam or honey instead.

Boxed fruit juices:

An acceptable drink from time to time. But having it constantly puts us at risk of thinking of it as an acceptable replacement for water, as well as assuming the health benefits of drinking one fruit juice equals that of eating one fruit.

Home-made smoothies:

The problem with blenders, mixers, and juicers is the number of fruits that we put into them! Limit it to 4 fruit cocktails (about the size of a fist) when in use.

Crackers:

Perfect…for primary school children to carry in their lunchboxes! For adults, it should be reserved solely as a snack, and only consumed from time to time.
