Power up your day with these effective meditation podcasts.

By now, we are no stranger to the numerous benefits of meditation. It’s been proven to help lower stress, improve concentration, boost happiness, increase self-acceptance, encourage a healthy lifestyle and even slow down ageing. However, meditation can seem a little daunting to those only just beginning to venture into it. For one, we might have these preconceived ideas of having to perfect a specific pose or chant a certain way in order to meditate properly.

Good news: these are all not true.

Meditation, at its core, is simply mindful focus – it is the awareness of your body, your breathing, your environment and your own thoughts. And contrary to what you might think, you can practise meditating in the comforts of your own home. As paradoxical it might initially seem, there are an array of digital meditation platforms, from apps to podcasts and online classes, that serve as great ways to start your meditation journey.

Deepak Chopra’s meditation podcasts (available for free on iTunes) feature inspiring talks and meditations to encourage healing and gratitude, relieve stress and more, and are the perfect option to easily practise mindfulness throughout the day, even while commuting or on your lunch break. If listening to music as opposed to sitting in silence is more your thing, give Eckhart Tolle’s “Music to Quiet the Mind” a listen. Available for free streaming on Spotify, the playlist is a collection of the acclaimed spiritual author’s favourite calming tunes and will no doubt make for the perfect music when you’re looking to be present.
