These amber-tinted glasses might be the key to better sleep.

Do you find yourself struggling to sleep? Surprise surprise, your digital devices might be the largest culprit. They produce HEV (high-energy visible light) also known as ‘blue light’ which emits short-wavelength that affect the melatonin levels (a hormone that encourages sleep) in our body. Our body’s exposure to blue light is especially worsened, considering that fact that you’re facing a computer screen during office hours and binge-watching television or Netflix in the evening.

Besides affecting our ability to sleep early and well, it also has a few health implications like premature aging, worsening skin pigmentations, damaging the retina and also leads to insomnia, among others. There are also many consequences that follow poor sleep — heart diseases, diabetes, depression, obesity and many more! That’s why it’s crucial you get a good nights sleep. Fortunately, there is a way to block blue light from entering your eyes and disrupting your sleep cycle just before you retire to bed: i.e. wearing a pair of blue light blocking sunglasses at night.

What to do before bed:

  1. Put on blue-light blocking sunglasses two hours before bedtime
  2. Turn off all lights two hours before bed

Browse our gallery above for a few amber-tinted glasses you can wear before bed that will help bounce blue light off your eyes and lets you enjoy the powers of a good rest.
