Oops! You overdid it last night and now you’re suffering from a horrible hangover.

Your head is throbbing, the softest sound grates on you and sunlight hurts your eyes. The worst of all is you feel like you’ve just been run over.

Hangovers are caused by a variety of reasons, with the most common reason being dehydration. While prevention is definitely better than cure, you have to get through the day somehow if you’ve already ignored this adage.

So with that, here are a few ways you can survive your hangover like a true winner.

 1) Water

Drink lots of water. Alcohol is a diuretic that causes dehydration. So drinking a large bottle of water before bed would be the best way to stave off a bad headache the next day. Also try to alternate your alcoholic beverages with water in between.

2) Eat a healthy breakfast

This is advised before drinking as drinking on an empty stomach is never a good idea. But the next day, you may crave greasy fast food. Try to resist your cravings as that may give you heartburn instead. Introduce calories back into your system with easy-to-digest grub like oatmeal or toast.

3) Take a multi-vitamin

Your body would have lost a lot of nutrients after a night of heavy drinking. Replacing them quickly would help speed up the process.

4) Exercise

We know this is the last thing you feel like doing, but going out for a light run or a gym workout will help you sweat it all out. Don’t forget to constantly hydrate during your exercise and you’ll definitely feel much better after.

5) Nap

If all else fails, try drinking a ton of water and then taking a nap. You might pay for it with sleeplessness at night, but at least you won’t feel like a million rocks just dropped on your head.
