You’ve probably seen advertisements everywhere and even have friends and family members who swear by it. This detox tea or rather teatox have been all the rage these days. They’re all over your social media newsfeed but what is it really? How does it work? Over here at Marie France Asia, we are supportive of all things healthy, however, is jumping on the teatox bandwagon the way to go? Let’s find out.

What is skinny tea?

The product is basically tea but you have to consume for a stipulated number of days to get a well-desired end result. Backed by strong marketing gimmicks and numerous reviews, one would be in a dilemma on whether or not it’s the real deal. Usually, it comes in two forms, one sachet for the day and another for night-time.

What is in the teas?

Green tea is usually a key ingredient for skinny teas. Usually paired with numerous fruits to make it sweeter and flavoursome. A key ingredient for most skinny tea is sSennaa natural laxative. Those of you who have digestive issues should consume this ingredient only after a consultation with a doctor. As humans, our bodies are designed to clear out the toxins on a regular basis, overdosing it with laxatives can only do more harm than good. Long term consumptions of senna may lead to a negative effect on your digestive system thus, making it dependent on it to function properly. See where we’re going with this? By drinking the tea from two days to four weeks in hopes to lose that belly weight fast, you are actually loading yourself up with laxatives, therefore, destroying your internal system.

Do they detox?

As much as we’d like to support the idea of the tea working despite its risky background, it doesn’t detox your body. What it does do is make you pee, poop and sweat more than usual thus, creating an illusion that you’re losing weight. While on this tea many have seen instant results but anyone who uses the bathroom more than required in a day would definitely see a flatter belly within hours!

In conclusion, we advise you to go back to the old school route. Drink more water, cut down on the binge drinking, eat less junk food, get your 8 hours of sleep and don’t forget to exercise! Our bodies will detox on its own, with or without the help of a teatox diet.
